The Airhead toilet is a clever device. It separates the urine from the solid matter. The urine can be easily disposed of in many ways - down a drain, in a public toilet even in a hole in the ground (with permission). The solid matter is composted in the unit and need only be emptied after several months to a year, depending on usage. There is a small fan (12 volt - 80mA) which draws air over the compost and ensures good drying and decomposing of the waste.
We sold an initial batch of these in a few weeks and are now getting regular supplies as we are confident they will become the standard fitting on many boats.
Their popularity will be boosted by their small size, needing a space 18 1/2" wide by 17 1/2" deep (47cm x 45cm). The unit stands 19" high (48cm).

They are not large - a unit measures 17" wide by 25" deep (44cm x 45cm). It stands 18" high (46cm).
These are the big brother of the Air Head and were originally designed for domestic use. However we have adapted them for boat use and offer three models: Model 1 uses a small reservoir with pump to transfer the urine to a 45 litre low level holding tank, which can be wheeled away when it needs emptying (typically monthly for live-aboards, annually for holiday use); Model 2 uses a 30 litre portable drum for standing in a suitable storage area; the Replacement Model is designed to replace an existing pump out toilet and uses the existing tank purely as a urine store.
